Brian is working on a college capstone project at the Rochester Institute of Technology, "Uplifting One Another with 3D Printing: The Social Impact of 3D Printing for People Struggling with Homelessness." We are investigating the potential social impact of 3D printing and Spark Space on the community at Switchpoint housing locations in Utah among residents and clients who experience homelessness. Through survey participation and 3D printing initiatives, we aim to establish the Spark Space maker space and shop to foster a positive social impact. The potential benefits of 3D printing and Spark Space include providing residents and clients with new skills development, enhancing their self-confidence, and promoting community and belonging.
We hosted pizza parties in March at The Point at Airport and The Point at Fairpark locations and introduced the Spark Space concept and 3D printing maker space. There, we collected feedback from the staff, residents, clients, and friends of Switchpoint.
You will find some fascinating information that will be shared on the project page. A video presentation is now available to view. A report document is being worked on, and we anticipate it will be available on this website soon.
